During Operation “Roar of the Lion”, as the threat posed by optic-cable guided explosive drones against Israeli forces intensified, a critical need emerged for additional protective measures for soldiers serving along the northern front.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, The Lights of Orit launched a large-scale logistical operation to locate, collect and deliver protective netting that could help shield operational areas and combat positions from aerial threats.
Our volunteers reached out to agricultural communities, greenhouse owners, fishermen, businesses and private citizens throughout Israel. The response was immediate and overwhelming. Hundreds of people answered the call, driven by a shared sense of responsibility and commitment to the safety of our soldiers.
What began as a simple request quickly grew into a nationwide effort.

More than 80 private vehicles and over 20 civilian and military trucks participated in the operation, transporting protective netting from collection points across the country to units deployed along the northern combat zone.
In total, more than 30 kilometers of netting were collected and delivered. The materials were used to help protect operational areas, observation posts and fighting positions, providing soldiers with an additional layer of defense against evolving battlefield threats.
Thanks to the remarkable cooperation of citizens, volunteers and organizations from every corner of the country, protective netting was supplied to all battalions operating within the northern sector.
This operation demonstrated the very spirit upon which The Lights of Orit was founded: when Israel’s soldiers stand on the front lines to protect the nation, the nation stands behind them.
Operation Net Shield was more than a logistical mission. It was a powerful expression of unity, civic responsibility and love of country — a moment when an entire people mobilized to help protect those who protect us all.
“Every kilometer of netting represented more than protection. It represented the support, gratitude and solidarity of countless citizens standing alongside our soldiers.”
